CL0004: Beginning Crochet



Beginning Crochet: Crochet is a fun and interesting hobby to take up. Whether you already love fiber arts or are new to the realm of fiber crafting, learning crochet is a great way to work your fine motor skills and create amazing projects and heirloom pieces. 

Crochet is more than just afghans and baby blankets. Make everything from hats, shawls, and sweaters to modern fashion shirts and socks. It can all be done with a fun a variety of crochet stitches. Crochet is also more free form than knitting. You can also use knitting and crochet together to add embellishments and one of a kind flourishes to you work. 

There are so many reasons that learning crochet can benefit you.  Neurobiologists have studies the physical and psychological benefits of knitting and crochet.  People who do fiber art relax better and are happier.  Whether or not you know any other fiber arts, crochet is an easy way to dip your fingers into this fun way to create fiber art.

  • chain
  • slip stitch
  • half double crochet


          *Learn some fancy stitches too!

    • Two skeins of Nifty Cotton (look here), preferable in two different colors
