NF201: Knit a Sachet Bag and learn lace and beading!!
If you have ever thought lace was too complex or intricate to even think about trying, this class is for you. If you know basic increases and decreases, you can knit lace.Look up the definition of lace and you will find that lace is “artfully arranged holes”, no more no less.
In your Simply Lace class you will learn:
-Judy’s Magic Cast On
-How to read and customize lace charts for ease of use
-How to read lace stitches Decorative Bind-off’s
-Use and placement of beads in lace work
-Tips and tricks to make lace knitting fun and easy
-You will receive 2 to 3 lace patterns at 3 levels of complexity: beginner, intermediate and advanced.
-During class you will make 2 to 3 (or as many more as you like) small sachet bags.
Once filled with cedar shavings, you will have lovely closet or drawer sachet bags, or hostess gifts or even stocking stuffers. If cedar isn’t your thing, you can also try dried rose or lavender leaves.
What you will need to bring to class:
-One skein of fingering wt yarn (variegated yarn is encouraged as long as it does not have very short color runs or is speckled).
-Either a 32” or 40” US04 needle for magic loop; or 2 16” or 24” US04 circulars for knitting in the round with 2 circulars.
-Your sense of curiosity and humor (lace is fun!).
Your instructor will provide: organza bags, some beads and steel hooks for practice, and dried lavender and rose petals. You can buy bags of cedar chips and shavings in the shop.

Student must know how to knit and purl. Experience knitting in the round is desirable but not necessary. You will select and learn the lace patterns you want to learn.

Instructor Bio:
Born and raised in Spokane, Nancy's grandmother taught her how to knit when she was 10 years old. She hasn't stopped since. After college Nancy moved away to pursue a career in high tech. When she found that retirement wasn't her thing, she became a co-owner of a local yarn shop in a small California mountain town. There she taught a wide variety of classes, including beginning knitting, socks, beaded lace, advanced techniques and fixing mistakes. Moving back to Spokane recently, Nancy has resumed her love of teaching and all things fiber at The Hook and Needle Nook.
