104EFW: Beginning Sock Knitting



Socks are a great thing to know how to knit!  They make great gifts and there is nothing better than slipping your feet into some soft, merino socks custom fit to your foot size. Beginning Sock Knitting class will teach you how to knit with the magic loop technique, and  some of the tricks to knitting socks that fit just right.  

You learn how to do the German loose cast-on so your cuff is not to tight.  The German cast-on makes the sock easy to slip on and off.  You learn all the tricks to making a heel that fits well.  Ever wanted to through out a set of socks because the toe is uncomfortable?  The toe we teach is so comfortable you will forget to take your socks off.

-Lean the German Cast-on
-Learn how to knit a comfortable heel
-Learn to read a chart
-Learn how to make a comfortable toe
-Learn how to make the right sized sock for any foot!
-Learn how to pick the right yarn for knitting socks
-Learn how to select the right needle size
-Learn how to knit in the round using the magic loop technique  


What you need:

-We highly recommend that you wait until the first class to pick out your yarn and needles.  We help you pick out what is best for the serious sock knitter. 
-We will help you size your foot.
-Absolutely bring a positive attitude and an expectation of lots of fun and laughter!

Must know how to knit, purl, increase, decrease, and slip a stitch.
Requirements:
A great attitude and a willingness to learn something new! You must know how to knit, purl, ktog, and ssk. We highly recommend that you take our beginning knitting class before you attempt to learn how to knit socks.

Esther has been knitting and crocheting since she was a child. In recent years, she has become an avid sock knitter and enjoys teaching how to knit socks in the round. Magic loop is her preferred technique for knitting socks because she know the tips and tricks for keeping them gap-free and comfortable.
