KG001: Hand Spinning Yarn on a Spinning Wheel

Join us to learn how to hand spin yarn on a spinning wheel. You can create any kind of yarn. It is a whole new world to be introduced to. You may think of it as an ancient art, however as you tell people you are learning to spin, you will be surprised at how many spinners you meet.

In this class, you will learn all about your wheel and the different types of wheels that are available. We will make a 2 ply yarn together in this class. You will learn the parts on your wheel, additional tools used in making yarn, how to prepare and draft fiber, how to ply yarn, how to take your yarn off the wheel, and how to set the twist.

I find spinning to be a very relaxing craft once you get past the learning curve. It is a total stress reliever!

I love the craft so much My husband and I ran a fiber mill where we custom produced yarns and roving for the local farmers for 10 years. Fibers First Inc. I am a true crafter at heart - quilting, knitting, crocheting, weaving, pineneedle basketry, beading, rug hooking, sewing, scrapbooking are a few of the crafts I love. Teaching others any of these crafts has always been a joy for me as I really want to see all these crafts carried forward for many generations to come.
